## Reading copy and preserved source

The image `mary-michael-marriage-register-1861.jpg` is a complete-spread reading copy of the NLI download independently preserved on 30 September 2026 as SRC-511. The 3864 × 4512 master is retained unchanged in the research collection. Its SHA-256 is `c8bc7fabb81bd1d342fe275ec8af5f1c65997fc29e629e75fde86ed8e952a918`.

The reading copy is proportionally resized to 3200 pixels high and JPEG recompressed. No cropping, retouching, contrast enhancement or AI reconstruction was applied. The NLI imprint remains visible. Original technical metadata was replaced with source, licence and treatment credit in the downloadable JPEG. The previous lower-resolution research copy, SRC-139, remains preserved privately.

## Reuse conditions

The parish-register images fall under the collection's NLI Licence, not a blanket Creative Commons licence for the images. Its clauses 2.1 and 3 permit noncommercial use, adaptation and sharing subject to the stated conditions. Retain the NLI credit, source URL, licence link and any modification notice with copies and adaptations. Do not imply NLI endorsement or impose additional restrictions on recipients' licensed use. The McPadden Project adds no such restrictions to this image.

This assessment covers the present noncommercial educational website, download and resized copy only. A commercial book, merchandise or other commercial use needs a separate review. Other records and photographs on the site do not inherit this licence. Privacy and other rights remain separate.

## What remains uncertain

The project's reported reading is Mary Conlon and Michael McPadden, 25 November 1861, with witnesses John and Bridget Conlan. The faint target entry still needs an independent reading. The witnesses' relationship to Mary is unproved. A sharper scan establishes neither a corrected transcription nor a new family relationship.
